Asian Foods R&D

The Asian Foods Research Program, undertaken by RIRDC, funds projects to foster a viable Asian Foods industry in Australia.

Since 2003 the Department of Business, Industry and Resource Development (NT) has received funding to develop a range of Product Description Languages (PDL) and support material for minor tropical crops in northern Australia. 

These have been developed in consultation with all parts of the production/transport/distribution/retail and consumer chain.

In 2007, a set of supply chain guidelines to encourage best practice for the distribution of Asian vegetables from the NT to southern States of Australia was produced. These guidelines
will assist growers, packers, consolidators, transporters and wholesalers in the supply chains.
