Drought Policy Review - Expert Social Panel

The New South Wales community has its chance from 18-22 August to help shape Australia’s drought policy, at forums being held in Gilgandra, Forbes, Griffith and Goulburn.
Farmers, business operators, social support service providers and other community members are being urged to go along and share their experiences about the social impacts of the prolonged drought.
The forums are part of a two month tour of regional Australia by an expert panel set up to examine the social impacts of drought and related support services for farm families and rural communities.

The 13th Annual Rural Women's Gathering

The 13th Annual Rural Women's Gathering will be held at Cornerstone College, Main Road, Mount Barker. This is the first time the Gathering has been held in the Adelaide Hills with speakers and workshops to suit all tastes.
The annual dinner will be held at the College on Saturday 23rd August and the keynote speaker will be Mrs Nicki Downer, a local Adelaide Hills resident.
Market stalls and tours of the local area have also been arranged.

International Animal Welfare Conference 2008

AAWS08 will be the first conference of its type in Australia and internationally, and will bring together world leaders in animal welfare science, practice and policy.
The three-day program will cover major issues and developments in animal welfare across the six AAWS animal use sectors: animals in the wild; livestock production; companion animals; animals used for work, sport and recreation; aquatics; and those used for the purposes of research and teaching.
The conference will feature national and international speakers from industry, animal welfare groups, government and research.
