Pasture Management
Land Water & Wool is a jointly-funded program from AWI, LWA and MLA which provides wool producers with practical tools for managing natural resources sustainably and profitably.
The Pastoral sub-program has recently compiled a booklet of five case studies of woolgrowers successfully managing pastoral country for profit and sustainability. The booklet contains information on drought management of Mitchell Grass, stocking rate decisions and whole-of-property management, and can be downloaded here.

Grain & Graze
Grain & Graze is a research program involving catchment managers, land managers and farmers looking at a balanced 'whole-farm' approach to increase profitability of producing both crops and livestock while helping to better manage water, weeds, soils and biodiversity.
It is a joint initiative and is funded by the GRDC, MLA, AWI and LWA.

Rainfall to Pasture Growth Outlook Tool
In conjunction with leading beef and sheep producers, MLA has developed the Rainfall to Pasture Growth Outlook Tool.
A key component of the MLA More Beef from Pastures program, the tool shows actual rainfall and indices of soil moisture and pasture growth for the past 9 months and an outlook for the next 3 months for over 3300 locations across southern Australia.
Launched in October 2005, the web-based Rainfall to Pasture Outlook tool was awarded fourth place in the Business Review Weekly’s Top 10 innovative new products.
Further work has been commissioned to extend the geographic range of the tool.
